Heather Friedli "One In The Land"

Please join us for the art opening of “One in the Land” featuring painter Heather Friedli!

Heather Friedli is best known for her abstract impressionist oil paintings, depicting her family heritage and the land in which she lives. Bold brush strokes and brilliant colors light up scenes of cloudscapes, water, trees, and native plants. Many pieces are created in the context of her wilderness adventures; she often brings her paints outdoors to create work that shares with the viewer her experience of immersion
in the landscape. Within these colorful works, Heather explores the spiritual world through the lens of culture and lived experience of place. Heather’s work is creative, soulful, bold, and powerful.

Friedli’s show “One in the Land” is an effort to synthesize her love and experience in the natural world, and wilderness adventure travel. Those experiences, being out in the world seeing the beauty and power of nature are represented in both large and small scale paintings. She paints with a passion for the land, looking around and internalizing the colors and expressing them onto canvas. Her work is not only an expression of what she sees, but also becomes a physical dance with her painting. The movement and rhythms in these works are her own unique experience with the land around her.

Show runs Nov 9th to Jan 4th, 2020

Meet the Artists

About:
During the Great Depression there were no jobs, no Social Security, no unemployment benefits, bread lines...and very little support for artists. On April 14, 1937, a heady group of artists decided to pool their energies and help one another. They formed a group where they could discuss their problems, gain encouragement to go on, and keep their spirits alive by communicating about a topic that was their life: ART.

The Minnesota Artist's Association is one of the original art organizations in Minnesota. It remains to this day an all inclusive organization which shows works in all media: Sculpture, oil painting, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, pastel, and collage as well as drawing, graphic work and photography.

We look forward to seeing you!

Where: Frameworks Gallery 2022A Ford Parkway
Show Dates: May 4th to June 15th 2019
Treat your eyes and imagination to fascinating acrylic paintings of colors, shapes, and lines by the award winning Minnesota artist, Richard Mittelstadt. Richard’s recent creative works will be on display in a solo show at our gallery. Rick, as he likes to be called, is well known for his work in acrylic paintings of abstract landscapes and non-objective designs. Rick’s paintings are bold in color and artful in message.
Rick has chosen to raffle three paintings with the proceeds going to Team World Vision for clean water projects in Africa. Raffle tickets are $6 each, 2 for $10, 4 for $20. Tickets will be on sale from May 4th throughout the show; winners will be contacted from the gallery. Rick will also be giving away 5x7 watercolors at his artist reception as a thank you gift (while supplies last).
About the artist:
Having taught high school art with a Masters degree for 38 years, Rick has an extensive background in art history, materials, concepts, and processes. While working on his college degrees in art education and studio art, he focused on drawing, printmaking, and jewelry making. While teaching high school art education, he concentrated on landscape watercolor painting. After retiring, he turned his attention to acrylic painting.
Rick thinks of his artwork as a theatrical production in which the viewer is allowed to temporarily suspend disbelief. For the viewer, his artwork becomes a momentary distraction—a gift of enchantment, amusement and emotional connection.
Quoting Rick, “I totally enjoy the magic that takes place during the painting process. As I immerse myself into each creative adventure, I often times find myself feeling transported into another dimension as if time no longer exists and my imagination and hands go about materializing a new image with color, line, texture, a sense of movement, balance, expression, and mood.”
We looks forward to seeing you!

Art for Clean Water: A World Vision Fundraiser

Where: Frameworks Gallery 2022A Ford Parkway
Opening Reception: January 26th 7pm-9pm

Background: Team World Vision, a part of World Vision, was started 13 years ago by Michael Chitwood and has since raised over $50 million for clean water projects and provided thousands of children with sponsors around the globe. His idea was for people to take part in endurance sports (Marathons, Triathlon's, etc) while asking others to donate money or sponsor children. Since 2015 Frameworks Gallery co-owner Mandy Madsen has participated in 4 marathons, 2 half marathons, and an Ironman with Team World Vision in an effort to raise money and sponsorships. She wanted to bring this passion to the workplace, so Frameworks sponsors a child for every employee and is donating 100% of the gallery's profits from this show to Team World Vision. There will also be an opportunity to sponsor a child for $39 a month through World Vision- this is a personal way to help someone and aid in bringing an entire community out of poverty. Any person that sponsors a child the night of the opening will receive a $250 gift certificate to Frameworks Gallery as our thank you.

The art for this show has a global theme, so come check out works representing Africa, Europe, local Minnesota and more. There are several artists, making it an interesting show, varying in styles and mediums.
